I have debated about this post for quite a while, but feel I need to post more about my postpartum journey. So here you go! This is me, six months postpartum. I have been working out only when it is convenient, which is not as much as I would like to. I have done mostly cardio and some weight training here and there, but I really want to build more strength. And here is why: When I was pregnant with my first baby, I experienced something I had never experienced before. I felt my body breaking down, I felt fatigue like I had never felt before, and I felt the new weight affecting my joints and feet. I had a small glimpse of what it could be like if my body was in an unhealthy state. I promised myself that after having her, I would work hard to be my strongest self now so I could fight fatigue, sickness, and obesity later in my life. After I gave birth to her, I focused mostly on cardio and my heart health. But soon I found something out that I had never heard before. I learned about bone density. Having strong and healthy bones can help prevent osteoporosis and much more. You can strengthen you bones with consistent weight-bearing and resistance training exercises. I also found out that bone density has a peak time in our lives. That peak is hit for women at age 30. Currently, I am 28 years old. I only have two years until I hit that peak! I have never felt more of an urgency to work out in my life as I do now. If I do not take the opportunity to strengthen my bones now, it will affect my health when I am older. So I am going to dedicate more of my time to weight training, but still implement cardio as well. I want to build my bone density and create a healthy heart. I want to create a strong body to help prevent sickness and create a strong shell to fight off anything that could come my way later in life. These pictures will be my starting point to show progress. I will work hard and I hope to see many changes! No matter where you are in life, there is always room to grow.
