Here is just a simple video of some movements I like to work into my daily yoga practice to help with back and hip pain. It is also so fun to get creative on the mat with a baby. My little man loves it! He enjoys the contact and the engagement, and I enjoy being able to play with him while I get a work out in at the same time!
This series works the areas that can help relieve back pain and build strength to support the spine. After having my little man, my lower back was pretty weak, my hips were tight, and my core strength was gone. These exercises have become a necessity for me because of all that I had lost! As I have been doing them everyday, I have been able to see a tremendous difference in my recovery.
After, I like to do a few stretches as well as some rocking motions (as you can see in the video). This helps massage and loosen things up a bit. Having lower back pain can be contributed to tight hamstrings. So extending my legs and stretching my hamstrings can also be a great post-workout stretch.
Any back pain can also be caused by bad posture and tightness due to the absence of movement. Most days we sit and stand a little too much for our body's own liking. Doing small, gentle movements like these daily can relieve pain and build the strength you need to help avoid bigger problems in the future.
In this video: pelvic lifts, one legged pelvic lifts, pelvic rocks, hamstring stretch
