BOLSTER SUPPORT - PART II.

​​Using a bolster helps enhance the pose and creates more relaxation. The following poses are more restorative poses that can help you relax and relieve any tension in your back, hips, and legs. I am pregnant in the photos but each can be done by anyone at anytime.

​This post can be so relaxing and helps get a little deeper stretch in the hips and lower back when you lay down. You can also do this restorative pose with your legs extended out in front of you or with your feet flat on the floor and your knees bent.

This is another pose that relieves a lot of tension in the lower back and hips. Sometimes laying flat on the ground can be uncomfortable, but using the bolster in this way makes it much more enjoyable. Putting the bolster under you knees while you lay down can help release tension or tightness in the lower back. You can also use a blanket and do this in bed at night to help achieve better sleep.

Pigeon pose is a favorite for a lot of people. It relieves so much pain and tension in the hips, groin, and back. Using a bolster to rest your upper body on, can really help ease and work your body down further into the pose. Once you feel more comfortable, then you can remove the bolster and go deeper.

This pose is great if you are pregnant because when you rest your upper body on the bolster, you are able to create more room for your belly. ​As I stated in my previous blog post (Bolster Support - Part I), when we are pregnant we can't do very many prone poses anymore. So this pose is what I consider as another 'pregnancy jewel'.

​The bolster I like to use is from Hugger Mugger. I love the quality and comfort it gives. It is sturdy and soft. They have many different colors to choose from as well as other styles.
