BEGINNER'S YOGA.

After having a baby, it can be hard to get back into the swing of things. The state of my body before pregnancy definitely helps my postpartum recovery, but after every baby I feel like I am beginning again and starting new. 

I have filmed and broken down a great routine for anyone beginning yoga. This is also a great routine to follow if you just want a nice and gentle yoga practice. I have included the video here but I have also included a few poses in the routine that are my favorite with a simple explanation to why I included it in a beginner's yoga routine.

During a beginner's yoga routine, or even my first routine of the day, I love to walk out my legs. So whether I am in downward dog or forward fold, I am constantly alternating legs and bending my knees to get things loosened and warmed up. The can also help prevent any injuries. It is much better to move slowly into deep stretches than to jump right into them.

Lunges are also a great place to begin. Our legs get so stiff that it can actually cause back pain and problems with our joints, etc. If we work through our hips and legs, it can affect the rest of our body. Low lunges are great for any beginner as well as any advanced boy.

Twists are a favorite of mine. I encourage anybody, whether you are a beginner or an advanced yogi, to always incorporate twists somewhere in their yoga practice. Twists are a great way to stretch the back, side bodies, and hips. They are a great stress reliever as well.
